07.10.20. Glasgow-based cleantech investment specialists Greenbackers Investment Capital announce the appointment of Mark Hannigan as Director of their North American operations. Global Scot Mark is based in Houston, a city at the forefront of energy tech innovation and capital deployment. Mark has built multiple companies, has led the adoption and funding of disruptive technologies in the energy space and brings broad, hands-on knowledge and experience of that process to Greenbackers clients.

Greenbackers’ Managing Partner Robert Hokin said “Mark brings substantial deal making & tech adoption experience to Greenbackers. Our North America expansion complements our existing European work in connecting private funding with entrepreneurs perfectly - and with our access to capital, cutting edge technologies & global deal-flow, Houston is the perfect place for us to be: at the epicentre of the energy transition from the black to the green & blue economies in the U.S. and Canada. There’s a lot of work to be done and we’re ready to go!”

Mark Hannigan said “I am delighted to be joining an organization that sits in the nexus between Big Industry/Energy and Big Tech. The companies that Greenbackers supports represent the technologies that will define the next industrial age. It is therefore vital that traditional capital markets continue to adjust their business models to provide these entrepreneurs with the funding they need to achieve adoption, scale and commercialization. At Greenbackers, we are helping accelerate that change”

This appointment will enable Greenbackers to further expand their support to climate techpreneurs - a number of which can be seen at their upcoming online investment pitch event on 12th November - to a growing investor base in the North American market place, providing investors with a flow of curated deals.

Greenbackers will also be developing themes for funds and investors seeking out opportunities in the cleantech, circular economy, green and blue sectors, enabling the flow of inward investment from the U.S. and Canada into Scotland and the rest of the U.K.

They invite sector-related businesses seeking strategic and/or funding support as well as funds and investors interested in quality deal flow to get in touch.
